Dr. Shaun Stiemsma serves as professor of English and chair of the English department at Dordt University.
In addition to teaching, Dr. Stiemsma serves as an instructional coach on campus.
Dr. Stiemsma’s scholarly interests focus on early modern British literature, Shakespeare and English drama, and literary representations of history.
“I enjoy the study of literature as a way to understand what it means to be human, and as a way to imaginatively enter into the experience, worldview, and creativity of people from many times and places,” adds Stiemsma.
Before joining Dordt, Dr. Stiemsma taught English and popular culture at a Christian high school and taught composition and literature classes at the University of Maryland, the Catholic University of America, and the U.S. Naval Academy.
