Before I joined Dordt’s faculty as an adjunct in 2016 and full-time in 2017, I worked at Kinseth Hospitality Corporation in eastern Iowa for over 25 years. My final position before I left the firm was as the controller.
I hold a B.A. in Accounting/Business Administration from Dordt in 1988 and M.B.A. with H.R. emphasis from Oklahoma Christian University in 2017. I earned my C.P.A. in 1990. I acquired the SHRM-SCP (Society for H.R. Mgmt Senior Certified Professional) certification in 2019.
I have been a club sponsor for Defender Capital Management, Dordt’s student-led investing club, and I taught Corporate Finance and Advanced Corporate Finance in the finance emphasis.
I now focus solely on Human Resources and Accounting Areas in teaching Strategic H.R., Organizational Behavior, and Payroll Accounting & Benefits/Compensation in the H.R. emphasis and teaching Auditing, Government & Non-Profit Accounting, Fraud Examination, and Accounting Information Systems. I am also teaching Professional Practices to help prepare our students for the job search process and Senior Seminar, our capstone ethics course. Additionally, as of fall 2022, I am the club sponsor for the Women in Business student chapter and serve as the Department Chair for the Business Administration, Accounting, and Economics departments.
