Dr. Randy Smit

Professor of Business Administration

Dr. Randy Smit serves as professor of business administration at Dordt University.

Passionate about helping others develop financial literacy, Smit teaches courses such as Advanced Accounting, Tax 1 and 2, and Principles of Accounting. “My faith is the cornerstone for all that I do,” adds Smit. “My mission is to teach accounting and tax to the glorify of our Father, showing students how an orderly Father created systems to allow us to flourish.”

Prior to Dordt, Smith taught at NIACC and Buena Vista University.

As a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and Certified Management Accountant (CMA), Smit also has experience as a tax accountant at a CPA firm and as a marketing consultant for Cabin Coffee Franchising, INC.

Outside of teaching, Smit currently serves as treasurer of his local church as well as Classis of the Heartland.

In his free time, Smit enjoys playing racquetball and pickleball and spending time at the lake during the summer.
