Nicole Driewer
Instructor of Nursing
Nicole Driewer serves as an Instructor of Nursing at Dordt University. She teaches courses such as Pharmacology, Health Assessment, Chronic Illness Dynamics.
“Grounding students in the knowledge that God owns and directs their hearts and cares for the people we are caring for gives students the opportunity to serve Him well in difficult situations,” says Driewer.
Driewer is particularly interested in best practices in nursing education, emphasizing that nursing is a way to mirror God’s love. “Nurses meet and serve diverse people, often in vulnerable circumstances,” says Driewer. “Faith is foundational in seeing every patient made in the image of God. Because of the grace God has given me, I can give grace to others.”
Driewer is passionate about providing young professionals with the necessary tools to flourish in their fields. “I recognized a need for nurses who could come alongside new graduate nurses and help them grow in their role.” Driewer explains.
After a career in medical and surgical units and staff education in the healthcare setting, Driewer recognized her calling to teach. She spent time at Methodist College in Omaha and a St. Louis community college before coming to Sioux Center. Before coming to Dordt, she served at Sioux Center Health Center.
“The Lord has continued to instill in me a desire to teach, whether that is patients, nurses, or our daughters,” says Driewer. In her first year at Dordt, she actively participated in the simulation lab, as well as building connections with potential nursing students.
Life in Sioux Center allows Driewer to pursue her passions— community arts events, baking, crafting, and learning from her four daughters. In her church, she teaches Sunday school and is involved in the youth group.
