Dr. Nate Benjamin
Associate Professor of Mathematics
Dr. Nate Benjamin serves as associate professor of mathematics at Dordt University, teaching courses such as Calculus II, Multivariable Calculus, Introduction to Statistics, and Modern Geometry.
“God has created the universe with so much structure and order for us to discover, understand, and enjoy. Through the study of mathematics, I endeavor to help my students recognize this and praise the One Who created it,” adds Benjamin.
Prior to Dordt, he served a teaching assistant during his graduate studies at Iowa State University.
Benjamin’s research interests include discrete mathematics, specifically algebraic combinatorics dealing with association schemes and combinatorial designs. Additionally, he has worked on projects in the realm of graph theory, such as graph coloring, games on graphs, and hypergraphs. “I enjoy discovering the beauty and structure of mathematics that our Creator has imbued into creation for us to enjoy, utilize, marvel at, and most of all, glorify Him through,” adds Benjamin. Passionate about undergraduate research, Benjamin seeks to find opportunities for students at Dordt to be involved in math research and explore its beauty and structure in a more profound way.
More on his scholarly research can be found in his publications:

In addition to teaching, Benjamin serves as the organizer for the Pizza and a Presentation Speaker series hosted by the Mathematics and Statistics Department at Dordt. He also serves on the Athletics Committee as the Foundational Sciences divisional representative.
In his free time, Benjamin enjoys hiking, camping, and spending time in God's beautiful creation with his family.
