Lyle Huisman serves as Director of Development at Dordt University, where he leads and mentors the major gifts team while also maintaining his own portfolio of donor relationships across North America. His work sits at the intersection of institutional mission and personal generosity, helping donors find meaningful ways to invest in Christian higher education.
What inspires Lyle most is the alignment he gets to help create.
"It's a joy to assist donors in aligning their passion for Dordt with a gift that is meaningful for both Dordt and the donor," he says. "The mission of Dordt and its impact on the families we serve—that's what drives the work."
For Lyle, advancement is more than fundraising. It's ministry.
"Faith informs everything I do: prayerful preparation for interactions with donors, genuine interest in their lives," he says. "We view this work as a ministry to the donors we serve."
Outside of work, Lyle's priorities center on family, especially time with his children and grandchildren. He enjoys walking, bicycling, gardening, and lawn care, and he makes the most of both seasons: summers at local lakes and winters near the ocean.
