Experience
My path to Dordt was, shall I say, nonlinear. But I’m delighted to be here and it’s a joy to have (what a friend calls) a front row seat to student worship, growth, and service, and to witness the extending reach of Christ’s kingdom. I teach mostly in the electrical engineering concentration, but also materials science and, recently, a core class.
Prior to coming to Dordt, I served as Chief Physicist and Director of a multi-site radiation oncology practice. In that role I had a chance to lead several large projects, consolidate and standardize workflows, manage teams, and advance radiotherapy patient care in our service areas. I’m grateful for my time in the clinic and it has provided many examples for the classroom.
I maintain certification as a Diplomat of the American Board of Radiology (DABR) in therapeutic radiation physics and have research interests in radiotherapy, especially robotic applications and radiation dosimetry.
Outside of academic interests, I enjoy long walks with my bride, belly laughing with our daughters, fine coffee morning, noon, or night, stuff that happens in galaxies far, far away, all the Inhabitants of Hundred Acre Wood, national parks, football Saturdays and the Pride of All Nebraska, scuba, marathon finishes, the poetry of Ted Kooser, and way too many other things to identify here!
