Brewer Eberly

Brewer Eberly is a third-generation family physician at Fischer Clinic in Raleigh, NC and a McDonald Agape Fellow in the Theology, Medicine, & Culture Initiative at Duke Divinity School. He completed his family medicine and chief residency at AnMed Health in Anderson, SC, and is a fellow of the Paul Ramsey Institute and the American Academy of Family Physicians. 

He is the author of The Healer's Vocation: A Small Group for Christians in Health Care and co-director of The Good Surgeon at Duke. Brewer has been published widely, including JAMA, Mere OrthodoxyThe New AtlantisChristianity Today, and Plough, including artwork on the cover of Academic Medicine and in the AMA Journal of Ethics. While the majority of his work is caring for his patients, his scholarship focuses on the intersections between medicine, aesthetics, and Christian theology, with a particular eye toward medical trainee formation, the relationship between beauty and ethics, and the nourishment of weary clinicians.
