Ringerwole Organ Recital Series features renowned British conductor and organist on March 31

As part of the Ringerwole Organ Recital Series, British conductor Wayne Marshall OBE will perform an organ recital on Friday, March 31, at 7:30 p.m. in the B.J. Haan Auditorium. Marshall will also give a masterclass at 3 p.m. on Friday, March 31.

British conductor, organist, and pianist Wayne Marshall is world-renowned for his musicianship and versatility on the podium and at the keyboard. A celebrated interpreter of Gershwin, Bernstein, and other 20th century composers, he has recently conducted major orchestras such as the Munich Philharmonic, the Seattle Symphony, and the Osaka Philharmonic. As an organ recitalist, he has an exceptionally varied repertoire and performs worldwide and online to an audience of millions. Recent organ recitals include Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles; Kimmel Centre in Philadelphia, and Symphony Hall in Birmingham, UK. As artist-in-residence at Dordt University, Marshall will work with the Chamber Orchestra as guest clinician, perform music in chapel, lead a masterclass to the organ studio, and present a solo organ recital, featuring his own compositions alongside standard repertoire such as Liszt’s Prelude and Fugue on BACH. The masterclass at 3:00 p.m. and organ recital at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, March 31 will take place in the B.J. Haan Auditorium, and the public is invited to attend.

Marshall’s performance at Dordt is part of the Joan Ringerwole Organ Recital Series, which is currently in its tenth year. The Joan Ringerwole Organ Recital series seeks to promote the organ and its repertoire for the musical education and enjoyment of students, alumni, and the community by bringing celebrated organists to Dordt University.
