NISO fall concert, A New Era Looking Back, to be held on Tuesday, November 11

The Northwest Iowa Symphony Orchestra (NISO) Fall Concert, A New Era Looking Back, will be held on Tuesday, November 11, at 7:30 p.m. in Dordt University’s B.J. Haan Auditorium.

The Northwest Iowa Symphony Orchestra (NISO) Fall Concert, A New Era Looking Back, featuring guest artist Daniel Maltz is set for Tuesday, November 11, at 7:30 p.m. The concert will be held in Dordt University’s B.J. Haan Auditorium.

Under the direction of Dr. Onsby Rose, the symphony will perform three works: Aaron Copland’s “Fanfare for the Common Man,” Franz Joseph Haydn’s “Concerto for Fortepiano in D Major” featuring Vienna, Austria based fortepianist Daniel Maltz and concluding with Beethoven’s “7th Symphony.”

This year’s concert, A New Era Looking Back, captures both the long tradition of NISO performances and the beginning of a new chapter under Dordt University’s full ownership and management. According to Rose, “In addition to this being the first year that Dordt University fully manages and oversees NISO, the title also highlights our program’s range, which spans from the classical period through the romantic era and into modern works.”

The concert, according to Rose, is meant to provide audiences with the memorable experience they’ve come to expect from NISO: “A great orchestra, playing great music, performed by talented musicians from Northwest Iowa and the surrounding areas, many of whom are their neighbors.”

Tickets for the NISO fall concert can be purchased at www.ticketleap.events/events/nisoiowa. Tickets will also be available at the door. Admission is $25/adult and students are free.

For questions or more information about the concert, please contact NISO@dordt.edu or call 712-722-6230 for more information.

Now in its 37th season, NISO is comprised of the finest musicians from across the tri-state area. The orchestra includes adults of all ages as well as talented music students from area high schools and colleges. Each year, NISO presents two main concerts, an annual children’s concert, and two guest artist performances.
