Dordt’s MSW program ranked #2 in Iowa by Counseling Psychology

Dordt University's MSW program has been recognized as one of the top programs in Iowa, ranked #2 statewide by Counseling Psychology. Designed with working professionals in mind, the program stands out for its excellent quality, affordability, and student support.

Dordt University’s Master of Social Work (MSW) program was recently recognized as one of the top MSW programs in Iowa—earning the #2 spot—by Counseling Psychology. The ranking highlights programs that offer exceptional quality, affordability, and student support.

“Our program was created to fit in the margins of people's lives, meaning we offer flexibility and support to students who are working full time, raising families, and managing other responsibilities,” says Dr. Erin Olson, director of Dordt’s MSW program. “We want to help students be successful in their academic work and professional careers. Our courses are rigorous and offer students a quality online experience where they can get real skill development as they learn to become competent, ethical social workers.”

The rankings for this list were based on data from organizations such as the United States Department of Education's Office of Postsecondary Education (OPE), the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS), the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES), and the Council for Community and Economic Research. Programs were evaluated using a points-based system considering acceptance and completion rates, tuition relative to local cost of living, accreditation, institutional competitiveness, program diversity, school and department size, and faculty experience.

“Our program was created to fit in the margins of people's lives, meaning we offer flexibility and support to students who are working full time, raising families, and managing other responsibilities.”

“This recognition represents the efforts and good work of our students and alumni who are serving in God's kingdom both in Iowa and across the country,” says Olson. “Our students are incredible testaments of how Dordt’s MSW program prepares students to serve the vulnerable in powerful and impactful ways, living out Dordt’s mission to work toward Christ-centered renewal, and improving the lives of those in need both locally and in their home communities.”
