Dordt University’s Master of Social Work (MSW) program has partnered with Crandall University in Moncton, New Brunswick to offer students in their psychology and sociology programs a streamlined pathway to an MSW degree.
Through this partnership, students can waive up to 15 credits, reducing both the time and financial commitment required to complete their graduate studies.
According to Dr. Sam Reimer, professor of sociology at Crandall, “We have a long history of students in both psychology and sociology who go on to do a social work degree in various universities across Canada. Crandall’s partnership with Dordt will provide a clear path toward an MSW for our students, which we hope will encourage more students to seek a social work degree.”
Not only does this partnership offer students a practical and streamlined pathway to graduate education, but it also seeks to address the growing demand for Christian social workers. “Right now, our province of New Brunswick is in desperate need of social workers,” explains Reimer. “We hope this partnership helps us meet this local need.”
Joe Bakker, dean for online, graduate, and partner programs at Dordt, believes partnerships like this reflect the university’s broader mission of Christ-centered service. “Social work is a powerful, practical way to work toward Christ-centered renewal,” he says. “Through this partnership, we can meet real community needs and equip students called to this vital field to serve with excellence.”
Dordt’s MSW program is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) and approved by the Higher Learning Commission.
