Dordt University welcomes voice expert Dr. Stephen Austin for masterclass and guest lecture
The public is invited to attend a masterclass and guest lecture by voice expert Dr. Stephen Austin on Friday, October 9.
Dordt University's music department will welcome Dr. Stephen F. Austin, Professor Emeritus of Voice at the University of North Texas, for a special two-part event on Friday, October 9, 2026.
Dr. Auston, MM, PhD, will make an appearance on the Dordt campus to lead a vocal masterclass from 11:10 a.m. - 12 p.m. in the Recital Hall, working directly with two to three Dordt vocal students to offer constructive guidance and critiques while other students observe.
In the afternoon, Dr. Austin will deliver a guest lecture on Vocal Pedagogy and Vocal Health. The lecture will take place in the Choir Room, PAC 1122, from 3:10 - 4:20 p.m. This lecture will cover how to effectively teach singers and how to properly care for one’s voice. This will be valuable for aspiring performers, educators, and anyone who may rely on their voice professionally.
The event is free to attend and open to the public.
