NISO to hold auditions on Saturday, September 6
The Northwest Iowa Symphony Orchestra (NISO) will hold auditions this fall for select open positions.
"Highlights this fall include newly completed student cottages that foster modern, community-focused living; a redesigned Media Lab and mezzanine classrooms with updated learning environments; and a new nursing lab to accommodate a growing student body."
As the fall semester begins, Dordt University students are returning to a campus refreshed by a series of completed and nearly completed construction projects designed to enhance learning, living, and community life.
Highlights this fall include newly completed student cottages that foster modern, community-focused living; a redesigned Media Lab and mezzanine classrooms with updated learning environments; and a new nursing lab to accommodate a growing student body.
Athletic and arts facilities are also seeing major improvements. The Rozeboom Family Athletic Center now features new offices, training spaces, and updated locker rooms, while the freshly painted exterior of the B.J. Haan Auditorium and refreshed landscaping give the campus a renewed look and feel.
Dining and social spaces have been upgraded as well. The Atrium, Dordt’s new dining hall, provides vibrant spaces for eating and gathering, with more seating and longer serving hours than the previous commons.
“The updated kitchen will help us serve better quality food, and the new spaces will make campus life even more enjoyable for students,” says Vice President for Operations Fred Verwoerd.
Campus infrastructure improvements continue. The parking lot on the northwest side of campus has been redesigned for better accessibility, and temporary adjustments are in place as construction wraps up. Offices and classroom wings are complete and in use. “It’s exciting to see these spaces come to life so quickly,” Verwoerd says.
To help instructors get acclimated, university officials hosted a classroom open house, allowing faculty to test new technology and prepare for the semester. “When classes begin on Tuesday, we’ll be ready to roll,” Verwoerd adds.
These updates reflect Dordt University’s ongoing commitment to creating inspiring, functional, and community-oriented spaces that support student success, growth, and engagement.
