Dordt University Introduces New Faculty Hires

Dordt University introduces the newest faculty hires for the upcoming fall semester.

Dordt University is pleased to introduce new faculty hires:

Dr. Matthew Beimers recently joined the Dordt community as assistant professor of education. Matthew earned a Bachelor of Arts in English and Secondary Education and a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from Dordt, and he earned a Doctor of Education from George Fox University. Over the past 10 years, Dr. Biemers has served as the principal at Surrey Christian Elementary School in Surrey, British Columbia. He served for eight years as the ​secondary school assistant principal and teacher before moving to the position of principal. He also previously worked as assistant principal and as a teacher and a coach at Langley Christian ​Middle School in Langley, British Columbia, and as a teacher and a coach at Manhattan Christian School in Manhattan, Montana.

Dr. Marcus Büker recently joined Dordt as associate professor of mathematics. Dr. Büker earned a Bachelor of Science, Master of Science, and Ph.D. at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. For the last 11 years, Büker has taught at Western Illinois University.

Dr. Holly De Vries will serve as assistant professor of agriculture at Dordt. Holly earned her bachelor’s degree from Dordt and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Iowa State University. For 13 years, Dr. De Vries practiced veterinary medicine at Central Veterinary Clinic in Sioux Center. Most recently, she has served as an adjunct for Dordt, teaching a variety of chemistry, agriculture, and biology courses.

Dr. Jason Ho will serve as assistant professor of physics and engineering. Dr. Ho earned a Bachelor of Science Honors degree at the University of Fraser Valley, and a Master of Science and Doctorate of Philosophy in Physics from the University of Saskatchewan. For the past six years, Dr. Ho has served in a variety of roles including sessional instructor, guest and sectional lecturer, and teaching assistant for the University of Saskatchewan.

Jeff Kelly has taken on the role of director for the K & K Dooyema Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation and will also serve as instructor of business administration. Kelly earned a Bachelor of Arts in Education at Westmar College as well as a Master of Arts in Education from the University of South Dakota. For the past four years, Kelly has served as the vice president of business development for SpenDifference. Prior to that, Kelly was vice president of corporate advancement for Pizza Ranch.

Deb Kleinwolterink recently joined the Dordt community as instructor of nursing. Kleinwolterink earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Briar Cliff University and earned a Master of Science in Nursing Education from Western Governors University. Kleinwolterink has worked as the director of nursing education at Northwest Iowa Community College for the past two years, and she also served as a nursing instructor there for five years.

Leah Mouw will serve as instructor of social work at Dordt. She earned a Master of Social Work from the University of California—Los Angeles. Mouw recently worked as the school counselor for Sioux Center Christian School, after spending 10 years as a school counselor and teacher at Valley Christian Schools. She also worked for many years as a medical social worker and as a Crisis Intervention Therapist. She has experience in the fields of adoption and hospice social work.

Jon Moeller will serve as instructor of criminal justice at Dordt. Moeller earned a Bachelor of Arts at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. For the past 22 years, Moeller served as special agent for the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). He was in law enforcement for the past 28 years and continues to do so part-time.

Kara Nutt will work as instructor of social work at Dordt. Nutt earned a Bachelor of Social Work from Evangel University and a Master of Social Work from the University of South Dakota. For the last three years, Nutt has served as the director of housing and economic development for the Family Crisis Center in Sioux Center.
