Dordt University Concert Choir to perform at Dordt, embark on PNW tour

The Dordt University Concert Choir will perform a concert at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, March 15, at the B.J. Haan Auditorium in Sioux Center.

The Dordt University Concert Choir will perform a concert at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, March 15, at the B.J. Haan Auditorium in Sioux Center.

Directed by Dr. Ryan Smit, the Dordt University Concert Choir will perform a wide variety of music including hymn arrangements; spirituals; songs from other cultures; standards of the choral repertoire by Sweelinck and Hassler; and newer modern works by Shawn Kirchner, Jake Runestad, Dan Forrest, Elaine Hagenberg, Kim André Arnesen, Patrick Vu, and others. The concert is free, with a freewill offering received to help defray tour expenses.

This free concert is part of a spring tour with performances scheduled in Montana, Washington, British Columbia, Idaho, and South Dakota.

  • Monday, March 4 at 8 p.m.: Cathedral of the Rockies, Boise, Idaho
  • Tuesday, March 5 at 7:30 p.m.: First Christian Reformed Church in Mount Vernon, Washington
  • Wednesday, March 6 at 7 p.m.: Third Christian Reformed Church in Lynden, Washington
  • Thursday, March 7 at 7:30 p.m.: Living Hope Christian Reformed Church in Abbotsford, British Columbia
  • Friday, March 8 at 7:30 p.m.: St. Mark’s Cathedral in Seattle, Washington
  • Saturday, March 9 at 7:30 p.m.: Sunnyside Christian Reformed Church in Sunnyside, Washington
  • Monday, March 11 at 7:30 p.m.: Rapid City Christian School in Rapid City, South Dakota

Dordt University has more than 300 U.S. and international students who participate in the music program, with opportunities to perform in five choral groups, two orchestras, and four bands. Music scholarships are available to qualified students.
