Dordt to host senior voice recital

Senior Kylie Sorensen to present vocal recital on October 14.

Dordt University's Music Department is hosting the senior voice recital for Kylie Sorensen on Saturday, October 14, at 7:30 p.m. in the B.J. Haan Auditorium. A public reception will follow.

Sorensen, of Manitowoc, Wisconsin, is majoring in K-12 Choral Music Education. She has studied voice with Pamela De Haan since 2021.

The recital will feature works sung in various languages, including Hebrew, German, French, Spanish, and Italian. Genres will include 20th century and jazz styles as well as musical theatre selections such as from the musical "Hamilton". A highlight of the recital for Sorensen is the piece "Alto’s Lament" by Zina Goldrich which allows her to showcase her personality and love of performing.

Karli Vreugdenhil, a senior Dordt University student from Orange City, Iowa, will be featured on violin, and Carolyn Rayhons of Sioux Falls will join Sorensen on a vocal duet. Sorensen will also be joined on a vocal duet by her father Kyle Sorensen, a Dordt alumnus and former student of Pamela De Haan. Sorensen will be accompanied on piano by Dordt University senior Paige Decker of Lynden, Washington.
