Dordt to Host Music Concerts

The Dordt Music Department will be hosting upcoming ensemble concerts

Dordt University’s Music Department will be hosting an instrumental ensembles concert on March 2 and a choral ensembles concert on March 3, both at 7:30 p.m. in the B.J. Haan Auditorium.

The ensembles concert will feature the Dordt University Chamber Orchestra and Campus-Community Band. Music by Victor Herbert, Cait Nishimura, and others will be included. Featured in this concert is senior music education major and violinist Brianna Miedema performing “Praeludium and Allegro” by Fritz Kreisler. In addition, the Chamber Orchestra will perform the world premiere of “Orchestral Suite #1” by sophomore music composition major Aaron Galloway. Galloway studies composition with Associate Professor of Music and Director of Instrumental Ensembles, Dr. Onsby Rose, who will also conduct the Chamber Orchestra. The Campus-Community Band is under the direction of Dr. Allegra Fisher, assistant director of instrumental ensembles. The concert will be available on livestream at dordt.edu/livestream.

The choral concert will feature Bella Voce, Canons of Dordt, Chorale, and Concert Choir. The choirs will share a wide range of repertoire on various themes. Joining the choirs will be several instrumental collaborators including piano, organ, French horn, xylophone, and violin. The concert will also be available on livestream at dordt.edu/livestream.
