SCHOLARSHIPS I RECEIVED

In addition to a wonderful academic scholarship, I have gotten to participate in choir all four years at Dordt, and that scholarship helped me through. Additionally, one of the greatest blessings I have received in terms of a scholarship is the Verdoorn Foundation Teacher Education School, which I received both junior and senior year.

FAVORITE SPOT ON CAMPUS

My couch in the sunny corner of my dorm room on Friday afternoons sophomore year.

FAVORITE CLASS

EDUC 336!

A CONCEPT THAT BLEW MY MIND

Genesis 1 and Genesis 2 are two different stories! Core 150 freshman year definitely blew my mind.

COOL THINGS I DID AT DORDT

I was able to study abroad for four months in the Netherlands on SPICE and teach in a school while there. I also traveled to Belize on an education AMOR trip. I have sung in Chorale, Concert Choir, and Fourth Ave Jazz while at Dordt, and those have been my absolute favorite activities! I also participated in Dordt's dance team for two years and learned so much about dedication, hard work, and what it means to be a great teammate through that experience. My most beneficial opportunity is my current Professional Development School (PDS), aka year-long student teaching. Dordt is equipping me to be as prepared as possible going into my first year of teaching next year!

OBSTACLES I'VE OVERCOME

I have overcome my hesitation to leave the area. Dordt has equipped me to see God's vast world and experience multiple parts of it during my four years here, and that has been one of the greatest blessings! I have also definitely become more confident in who I am and in who I want to be. I have also been reaffirmed over and over by the professors and people at Dordt in my major choice and soon my future career choices! This helps alleviate the obstacle of doubt.

WHO I WAS WHEN I CAME TO DORDT

When I first arrived at Dordt, I knew I wanted to make some awesome friends, get involved on campus, and become prepared to be a teacher. I was looking to "grow up," become independent, and invest into all the exciting things about Dordt that I'd been looking forward to for years!

HOW DORDT IMPACTED ME

Dordt has helped me figure out who I want to be by surrounding me with supportive roommates, classmates, professors, staff, and the community as a whole. Not only that, but also in the way the professors and staff model exactly the kind of character I desire to be...that has truly been inspirational! I have felt so encouraged here throughout my development.

WHERE I AM NOW

I will be getting married this summer and Lord willing, have a full time job, hopefully at a Christian school in Des Moines, Iowa.

WHAT I WOULD TELL PROSPECTIVE STUDENTS

Dordt is a place that will challenge you, encourage you, and support you in every way. Dordt is incredible, and I wouldn't trade my four years here for the world.

HOW DORDT HELPED ME DO MORE

Dordt has helped me Do More by opening up a world (quite literally) of opportunities to explore my passions, career field, and expand my horizons academically, culturally, socially, and spiritually.
