A Concept That Blew My Mind

I think one was the concept that, especially in agriculture, our faith is so integrated into everything we do. I grew up in a Christian family, but went to public high school. It was really amazing to see how the professors reminded us that our faith is the center of everything we do, and that ultimately we are here to serve our Creator.

Cool Things I Did At Dordt

I served as the Lead Ag Ambassador for the department and assisted with recruiting and many other events that we are involved in; it allowed me to go to the World Food Prize, National FFA Convention, and Iowa State FFA Convention representing Dordt. I was also in the Ag Club and Trapshooting Club. I worked on a local farm a few days a week, and interned at a diverse vegetable production farm in NJ, Smithfield Hog Production in North Carolina, and a ranch in Idaho! I have gotten to travel to so many cool places not only with Dordt but also with friends, and I am always keeping myself busy!

Obstacles I've Overcome

I think the biggest obstacle I have had to overcome is myself. I am always pushing myself to be the best and the sky is the limit. While this is a great mindset, it sometimes put stress and pressure on myself to always be doing more. I think that I don't view it as an obstacle but as a challenge to be the best version of myself, and ultimately to bring glory to God in everything I do.

Who I Was When I Came To Dordt

When I first got to Dordt, I was extremely nervous but ready for the journey ahead of me. I moved halfway across the country from my small town in New Jersey to a place I had never even visited before! I was ready to meet new people and do my best to be involved in everything I could, and really make the most out of the next four years.

How Dordt Impacted Me

I think Dordt has really shaped me a lot the last four years! I have become well-rounded not only in my education, but also my experiences. I have learned some hard lessons, and had lots of fun along the way. Dordt has helped me grow in my faith, and realize how important it is to tie our faith into everything we do. I am excited to start my career in agriculture because I know Dordt has well equipped me to become a leader and a servant for the Kingdom of God.

What's Next For Me

I just accepted a job at SJ Ranch in Oglesby, TX as a herd manager and business assistant.

What I Would Tell Prospective Students

I would tell them that Dordt is going to bring you in and make you a part of a family. From your friends on campus, professors, and people in the community, they really make you feel welcome. Dordt becomes your home, and if you go far away for college it makes it an easy adjustment!

How Dordt Helped Me Do More

My experience at Dordt has allowed me the opportunity to go above and beyond in everything I have been a part of. It has opened doors for me, I could have never imagined. I have been able to be a part of so many different groups on campus, and been able to use what I am learning at college to excel in my internships and jobs. If I had not attended Dordt I don't think I would've been able to be a part of the things I have. Dordt has helped me Do More in my classes, outside experiences, and everything! I am so thankful for the past four years, and excited to see where I go from here.
