A Concept That Blew My Mind
I was mind blown when I saw an example of the Golden Ratio (aka Fibonacci Sequence) in how flowers bloom - they're super weird, but mind-blowing. If you don't know what they are, look it up on Google.
Cool Things I Did At Dordt
I participated in intramural sports, Airband, NCDC, the worship team, and MC'ed the Freshman Talent show. I worked as a Resident Assistant for two years where I planned events and activities for my wing. This was probably one of the coolest jobs I could've had because my job was to build relationships with people (plus a little bit of rule enforcing.) I also was a part of the Future Active Christian Teachers (FACT) Club Board and served as the Education Representative on the Student Government during my senior year.
Obstacles I've Overcome
As an international student, I had to make an intentional effort to learn about the culture in this country, and more specifically, about the culture at Dordt.
Who I Was When I Came To Dordt
I was excited, but at the same time nervous because I was just worried that I wouldn't be able to fit in. I was very self-conscious and tried really hard to make new friends whenever I got the opportunity.
How Dordt Impacted Me
During my time here at Dordt, God really showed me how to look beyond my own self, and to see the bigger narrative of God's redemptive plan. I also came to realize the value of the body of Christ (#community), and how God accomplishes His work regardless of our individual and collective abilities. I also made a lot of Canadian friends, and if I had to choose another nationality (other than Korean), I think it would be Canadian.
What's Next For Me
I teach Math and lead worship at a Christian school (Southwest Christian) in Minnesota. (Updated 2/25/19)
What I Would Tell Prospective Students
To give you an honest piece of advice, it really doesn't matter where you go as long as you are constantly seeking God's will for your life and for the world. Seek God, and you will find Him working where ever you go, so have confidence in that. One thing I am confident about is this: The work God is doing through Dordt is pretty epic. I have such great expectations for Dordt, and I have an assurance that you will come to encounter God in equal, if not bigger ways than I have come to see and love Him here.
How Dordt Helped Me Do More
I believe that I've not only earned a degree but also earned invaluable experiences through various opportunities that would've been difficult to earn elsewhere.
