A Concept That Blew My Mind
I learned that Dutch people are the tallest people group in the world!
In all seriousness, I learned that young people can make a difference in this world. Dordt gave me an opportunity to build skills that prepared me to make a difference.
Cool Things I Did At Dordt
I did a semester in New York City, played both soccer and golf, took piano lessons for four years, and wrote for the Diamond. I also played endless hours of racquetball.
Obstacles I've Overcome
I had to learn that I can't put my identity in one thing. I also learned how to start asking questions and being willing to ask for help.
Who I Was When I Came To Dordt
I was introverted and beyond nervous. I could not wait to find something that made me feel comfortable. I couldn't wait to see where God would take my life over the next four years.
How Dordt Impacted Me
I have had to learn to not take myself so seriously. It's easy for me to get caught up with excelling at everything I do so I had to learn to take a step back and enjoy the ride. The pieces always fall where they are supposed to and God has never failed. The more I keep thanking Him, the better off life is.
Where I am Now
I'm pursuing my Master's Degree here at Dordt and working as a Graduate Assistant for the Sports Information Department. (Updated 2/25/19)
What I Would Tell Prospective Students
Dordt is a place where you can pursue all of your passions. It's a small enough college that there is room for you in almost every activity, class or club. Try a million different things and see what excites you most. There is very little at Dordt that should hold you back from becoming who you want to be.
How Dordt Helped Me Do More
The people I have met at Dordt and experiences I have had have led to amazing things. I worked at a camp in the Bighorn Mountains in the summer of 2017. I worked with troubled youth and showed them the love of Christ. I've been able to develop my passion for helping youth through my four years and it wouldn't have been possible without the amazing faculty and students.
