Dordt's Pre-Speech-Language Pathology program can enrich many areas of study, but students in psychology, education, and language studies may find it especially beneficial.

What can I do with Pre-Speech-Language Pathology?
Students who complete this program are well-prepared to pursue graduate study in speech-language pathology or related fields. From there, they can go on to careers as licensed speech-language therapists, serving in hospitals, clinics, schools, or rural communities where demand is especially high.
Speech-Language Pathologist
A speech-language pathologist identifies and treats disorders and delays in areas such as speech, language, and swallowing, supporting patients through individualized treatment plans and counseling.
Clinical Researcher
Clinical researchers play a vital role in the understanding and treatment of various speech-language disorders and developmental delays. Through collaborative, in-depth studies, clinical researchers identify evidence-based practices that can better serve professionals and patients alike.
Early Intervention Specialist
An early intervention specialist supports young children who may experience delays in speech, hearing, and other developmental areas, as well as their families. In addition to evaluating possible delays, early intervention specialists collaborate with other professionals such as speech-language pathologists and educators, design personalized learning plans, and provide ongoing support, advocacy, and education for families.
Career Preparation
Dordt University's 2024 Career Outcome Rate was 99.3%! “The entire campus is engaged in the work of discipleship,” said Amy Westra, Director of Career Development. “Providing a Christian education focused on Christ-centered renewal is owned by all faculty and staff.”
