English Assistant Adjunct
Shelbi Gesch is an Assistant Adjunct instructor in the English department. Ending a “twenty-year hiatus” after completing her first two years at Dordt, she returned to complete her Bachelor of Arts in English, Writing and graduated in 2017. She holds a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing with a Creative Nonfiction emphasis and a concentration in teaching from Augsburg University in Minneapolis.
She lives just north of the Iowa/Minnesota border in Luverne, Minnesota with her husband and three children, one of whom is a third generation Dordt student. She is passionate about reading, writing (in particular, nature writing and memoir), and Christian education, and she is overjoyed to join in the work of equipping students for Kingdom work as an instructor at Dordt.
Her work has been published in The Banner, Pro Rege, In All Things, the online journal Fathom, and Reformed Journal. She enjoys writing on Midwestern life, finding the fingerprints of God in everyday experiences, and working through contemporary issues through her essays.
Courses she has taught at Dordt include:
· Core 120 English Composition
· Core 180 Responding to Literature
