Dordt takes its Reformed Christian perspective seriously at all levels of hiring, development, and performance review. Applicants must demonstrate a Christian faith commitment in agreement with Scripture and the basic tenets of the Reformed faith; they must also articulate how their Christian convictions are reflected in the philosophic orientation which directs their professional work.

- Statement: Describe in a few pages your religious convictions, your understanding of Christian higher education, and how your philosophical orientation directs your professional work. Throughout your personal statement, please interact with and comment directly upon relationships between your ideas and The Educational Task of Dordt University and The Educational Framework of Dordt University. In particular, be sure to respond to Dordt University's four curricular coordinates (religious orientation, creational structure, creational development, and contemporary response.)
The Dordt University community confesses that the Scriptures are the Word of God. As God's infallibly and authoritatively inspired revelation, the Bible reveals the way of salvation in Jesus Christ, requires a life of obedience to the Lord, and provides the key to understanding, to finding and interpreting purpose in life. The educational philosophy of Dordt University is based upon what historically is known as a Reformed (Calvinistic) worldview.
Faculty, staff, and administrative members of Dordt University are expected to acknowledge the need for mutual support and obligations and be sensitive to the expectations of the broader Dordt University community. In addition to making a personal statement related to their task at Dordt University, applicants must agree with the expectations found in the Staff Handbook, including the following:
- They are called to acknowledge Christ's lordship over all of life and to provide a Christian education for Dordt University students. They are also expected to demonstrate their commitment to the mission of the university by enrolling their children, when appropriate, in Christian day schools. See Staff Handbook 4.9 for information regarding grade school and high school scholarships.
- Affiliating with one of the local confessionally Reformed congregations (adhering to the three forms of unity—The Belgic Confession, Heidelberg Catechism, and Canons of Dort and/or the Westminster Standards)—that actively supports the mission of Dordt University.
- Giving assent to the three forms of Reformed Christian unity, namely the Belgic Confession, the Heidelberg Catechism, and the Canons of Dort.
- They will seek to obey Scripture's instructions that all are called to "put off" things like "sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed" as well as things such as "anger, rage, malice, slander and filthy language," and to "put on" an attitude of "compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, patience and, of course, love" (Colossians 3). More specifically, prospective members of the Dordt University community are expected to agree with its sexuality, gender identity, and sexual conduct policy.
