Dordt College Men's Basketball vs. Central

December 20, 2003

(Pella, Iowa) The Dordt College Defenders stopped a two game losing streak with a 77-75 win over the Central Dutch in Pella, Saturday, December 20. The Defenders held a slim two point lead at halftime before Central took control of the second half, holding a six point lead at 63-57 with 6:44 left in the game. Dordt cut the lead down to two at 65-63 with 3:04 remaining but wouldn't draw even until Brandon Haan hit back to back baskets with under two minutes remaining and Bret Van Wyk hit a pair of free throws to put the Defenders up for good with 1:05 remaining. Dordt converted on 24 of 27 free throws to seal the win. Kyle Van Arendonk, a Pella native, became the 22nd player in Dordt men's basketball history to surpass 1,000 career points with 16 points, giving him 1,012 for his career. Bret Van Wyk, a Pella Christian graduate scored 14 as well for the Defenders.
