Dordt College Women's Volleyball vs. National American (SD)

(Rapid City, South Dakota) The Dordt College Lady Defender volleyball team earned a dramatic 3-2 win over National American University (South Dakota) in the finals of the NAIA Region III volleyball tournament held November 17-19 in Rapid City, South Dakota.

The Lady Defenders dropped game one by a final score of 30-17 and trailed 18-9 in game two before staging a comeback that fell short 30-27. The Lady Defenders won game three 30-23, game four 30-26 and forged a game five win of 15-9 to hand the Mavericks their first loss of the season.

Tara De Boer led the Dordt attack with 27 kills while Lindsey Van Wyk and Kristin De Ronded added 13 each.

This is the second time that Dordt College has won a regional title with the Dordt winning last season's Region IV title over the College of Saint Mary.

The Lady Defenders turned away Northwestern and Briar Cliff in the quarterfinal and semifinal rounds to reach the finals. The Lady Defenders advance to the NAIA national tournament with a 38-3 record and await their pool assignment and seeding.
