This scholarship was established by the Adeline Stap family. The recipient must be an incoming freshman student who graduated from Lynden (Washington) Christian High School. The recipient must have a minimum 2.50 cumulative GPA, and be involved in school, church, and community activities.

AL AND KAY BIERLING FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP

The Bierlings wish to help support a student who hopes to attend Dordt University and comes from a developing or third world country.  The recipient will be a refugee or from a refugee family, a student from a developing third world country, a student from the United States that came from a developing third world country, or any student from any foreign country.  The recipient should demonstrate financial need, coming from an impoverished family.

Albert and laverne Boersma memorial Scholarship

Set up in memory of Albert and Laverne Boersma, the family wishes to financially encourage an incoming, full-time student at Dordt University.  This scholarship will be renewed up to three years as long as the student remains full-time.  Special preference will be given to students who attend a church of the reformed, Christian faith.  Financial need will also be considered.

Alumni Association Regional Scholarships

These scholarships are awarded to incoming freshmen students who fully appreciate the mission of Dordt University. Applicants must have a 2.80 cumulative GPA and must write an essay about their desire to be a Dordt University student. At least one recipient will be selected from each alumni geographical area. These are one-year scholarships. It is highly recommended that the scholarship reference be written by a Dordt alumnus. If no alumnus is available, someone who understands the mission of Dordt may write the reference.

American State Bank Business Scholarship

American State Bank in Sioux Center established this scholarship for students who intend to major in accounting or business administration. Applicants must have a 3.00 cumulative GPA. Scholarship is renewable for an additional three consecutive years provided the recipient maintains acceptable academic standing and continues as an accounting or business administration major. Arena Search Scholarship

This scholarship was set up by Arena Staffing to be awarded to an incoming freshman who is a graduate of Ontario Christian High School in Ontario, California.  The recipient must be a full-time student at Dordt University, with a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average.

Chris E. Haan Memorial Scholarship for Pre-seminary Students

Defender Capital Management Scholarship

Incoming freshman students that are interested in investments management and will be a part of the Defender Capital Management Club each year are encouraged to apply for this scholarship. Applicants must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.25 and plan to major in business, finance, or accounting.  This scholarship is renewable provided the student maintains a 3.0 cumulative GPA, attends DCM meetings, enrolls in BUAD 201 and 202 for their freshman year, enrolls in BUAD 305 and 326 their sophomore year, and holds a leadership position (officer or senior analyst) during their junior and senior year.

Funded by the Harold and Wilma Den Besten estate, these scholarships will be awarded in each of the following areas:  voice, instrumental, and keyboard.  Voice and instrumental recipients must participate in a suitable ensemble for two semesters, and the keyboard recipient must take private lessons for at least one semester.

Distinguished Scholar Awards

Ten Distinguished Scholars are selected each year. Students with a minimum 3.75 cumulative GPA and a  minimum 32 ACT, 1420 SAT, or 97 CLT composite score will be invited to a Dordt Distinguished Scholar Day on Friday, January 15, 2021, during which a variety of activities related to academic interests will be presented. An interview will be a required activity that day. Students who find it difficult to schedule this visit may contact Financial Aid to schedule a Zoom interview. Dordt Admissions Counselors can answer specific questions about Distinguished Scholar awards.  These awards are renewable for an additional three consecutive years provided the recipient maintains a 3.50 cumulative GPA.

This scholarship is funded by Henry and Karen Doorn. The recipient must be from the greater Chicago, Illinois area, with preference for graduates of Chicago Christian High School. Dordt university Athletic Scholarships

Athletic scholarships are available for students who have contributed significantly to their high school athletic program and intend to actively participate in a Dordt University athletic program. Athletes may receive scholarships for more than one sport.  Students interested in athletic scholarships should go to the Dordt University Athletics page to the 'Be Recruited' form. Athletic scholarships are renewable provided the student maintains the cumulative GPA required by the NAIA, and successfully contributes to the athletic program as determined by the athletic department coaches.

DORDT university PRESIDENTIAL, HONORS AND COLLEGIATE SCHOLARSHIPS

Presidential, Honors, and Collegiate Scholarships, ranging from $6,000 to $13,500, will be awarded on a graduating scale to all students who have a minimum 2.80 cumulative GPA.   Scholarship amounts may be increased by submitting ACT, SAT, or CLT scores.  These scholarships are renewable, provided the recipient maintains a 2.80 cumulative grade point average after their first year, and a 3.00 cumulative grade point average thereafter for the Presidential and Honors Scholarships.  A minimum 2.50 cumulative grade point average is required to maintain the Collegiate Scholarship.  There is no application process and the December 1 deadline date does not apply to these scholarships.

Dordt university Forensics Scholarships

Forensics Scholarships are available for students who have exhibited proficiency in speech or debate. The scholarships are awarded on a basis of merit proved through accomplishments in high school, but do not require participation on a team. These scholarships are renewable for an additional three consecutive years provided the recipient maintains a cumulative 2.00 GPA and is an active participant on the forensics team, as determined by the Director of Forensics in consultation with the other coaches.

Dordt university Journalism Scholarships

Student publications/journalism scholarships are available for students who contributed to the publication of their high school newspaper or other writing projects. Recipients need not be communication majors; however, they will be asked to enroll in the Introduction to Journalism course during their first year at Dordt University and are expected to participate in the publication of the Dordt Diamond, a biweekly college student newspaper. An application form, three writing samples, and a recommendation from a person who can attest to the applicant's writing abilities are required. Journalism scholarships are renewable for an additional three consecutive years provided the recipient maintains a cumulative 2.00 GPA and is an active staff member of the Dordt Diamond, as determined by the student newspaper's faculty advisor.

Dordt university Music Scholarships

Music scholarships are available for students who have contributed significantly to their high school or community music program and intend to actively participate in one or more of the following Dordt music areas: vocal, instrumental or keyboard. Applicants need not be music majors; however, they must submit an application form and a music instructor's recommendation. Applicants must also audition in their chosen music area(s), following the criteria listed on the Music Scholarship Application. The audition can be accomplished in one of three ways: attending the annual on-campus Music Audition Day, scheduled for December 4, 2020, to audition in person (contact the Admissions Office for details); scheduling an appointment with the Admissions Office to audition in person on a Dordt Campus Visit Day; or submitting a recorded audition video. The selected option must be completed by December 1. Music scholarships are renewable for an additional three consecutive years provided the recipient maintains a cumulative 2.00 GPA and successfully contributes to the music program as determined by the music department directors.

Dordt university Theatre Arts Scholarships

Theatre Arts Scholarships are available for students who have contributed significantly to their high school or community theatre arts programs and intend to actively participate in the Dordt University Theatre Arts program through acting and/or technical work. Applicants must submit an application form, audition materials, and a recommendation letter from a person familiar with their talents and skills in theatre arts. Scholarships are available for theatre majors, minors and non-majors. Theater Arts scholarships are renewable for an additional three consecutive years provided the recipient maintains a cumulative 2.00 GPA and completes the theatre scholarship requirements. Requirements include; taking one theatre course each year and completing required hours in two of the following areas: backstage crew, acting, costume crew, makeup crew, box office crew, set construction or design.

Broadcast Remote Production scholarships are available for students who have an interest in learning and/or improving the skills of multi-camera live stream broadcast remote production.  Applicants must intend to major or minor in Communications and submit an application, reference letter, and any videos that may represent their work and ability.  Requirements include being able to work a minimum of ten hours a week, being available to work some nights and weekends, attend mandatory training sessions, and other duties as listed on the application form.  Broadcast Remote scholarships are renewable for an additional three consecutive years provided the recipient maintains a cumulative 2.0 GPA and continues to complete the requirements of the scholarship.

DORDT MEDIA NETWORK VIDEO PRODUCTION SCHOLARSHIPS

Video Production scholarships are available for students who would like to contribute to the video production of various campus activities.  Applicants must intend to major or minor in Communications and submit an application, reference letter, and any videos that may represent their work and ability.  Requirements include taking Intro to Film Studies during freshman year, being able to work a minimum of 105 hours per semester, being available to work some nights and weekends, and other duties as listed on the application form.  Video Production scholarships are renewable for an additional three consecutive years provided the recipient maintains a cumulative 2.0 GPA and continues to complete the requirements of the scholarship.

Several scholarships are funded in memory of Egbert Meyer from Volga, South Dakota who was one of the founders who worked to establish Dordt University. This scholarship is for a north central Texas resident, with first preference given to a resident of Erath County. This scholarship will help make a Dordt University education possible for a student who would otherwise find it difficult to attend due to financial constraints.

Recipients selected for this scholarship must intend to major in nursing or in a pre-medicine program and have a 3.00 minimum cumulative GPA. Funded by the Jack & Emma Vanden Berg trust, this scholarship is set up to help students pursue creative service. Students accepted into the Kuyper Honors Program will be awarded a $2,500.00 Kuyper Honors Scholarship. Eligibility requirements to apply for this program are a 3.50 cumulative GPA and a 28 ACT (or 1860 SAT) composite score. Each year the National Merit Scholarship Program names around 15,000 high school seniors as finalists in its competition that highlights a student's exceptional academic ability and potential for success in college studies.  As recognition for this honor, a $3,000 National Merit Finalist Award Scholarship is awarded to any incoming freshman who has been named as a National Merit Finalist for that year.  This scholarship is in addition to the academic scholarship that the student receives.  This award is renewable for an additional three consecutive years provided recipients maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA after their freshman year and a 3.25 cumulative GPA thereafter.

Set up by a Bible study group, this scholarship was named after the group read Exodus 17:8-13.  Moses went to the top of the hill with the staff of God in his hands to watch God deliver his people.  As long as Moses held his arms up, the Israelites continued to win the battle.  When his arms grew tired and started to fall, the Israelites began to lose. Moses' friends saw this, so they began to do whatever they could to help him hold his arms up, even as he grew tired.  They helped Moses stay steady through it all.  We all need people in our lives who will hold us up when we grow tired.  This scholarship aims to hold up the football team by providing financial support to one of its players.  This scholarship will be chosen by the football coaching staff and may be awarded in addition to other athletic scholarships received.  The recipient must meet NAIA and GPAC guidelines for participation in the football program.

Dordt University offers a $2,000 scholarship to alumni of the Summit Student Conference.  The scholarship is available to new students who are accepted for admission and enroll as a first-year undergraduate students.  This scholarship is renewable annually for up to four years, as long as the student remains in good academic standing at Dordt University.  Visit the Summit Ministries website for more information on the conference.

Awarded to incoming freshmen at Dordt University, this scholarship was set up by Beth Te Grotenhuis to financially encourage women majoring in business administration.  Accounting majors and those majoring in office administration are not eligible.  This scholarship will be renewed for three years, provided the student maintains a 3.0 cumulative grade point average and remains a business administration major.

Transfer Student Academic Scholarships

Dordt University Challenge, Honors, and Presidential Scholarships for Transfer Students are awarded on the basis of a student’s college cumulative GPA, their high school cumulative GPA, and their ACT or SAT composite score. There is no application process and the December 1 deadline date does not apply to these scholarships. Eligibility requirements are a 2.80 cumulative GPA, and a 19 ACT (or 990 SAT) composite score. Scholarship dollar amounts range from $2,500 to $12,500 and will be named Challenge, Honors, or Presidential Scholarships based on the dollar amount awarded. Challenge, Honors, and Presidential Scholarships are renewable through the recipient’s senior year provided the recipient maintains a 3.00 cumulative GPA.
