The Dordt College Defender men's cross country team finished 20th at the Roy Griak Invite hosted by the University of the Minnesota in St. Paul, Minnesota on Saturday morning, September 28. The Defenders totaled 524 points in the meet that featured 40 teams and 458 runners.
The Defenders were led by Nathan Jackson's time of 26:51 for 61st place and Nick VanderKooi crossed the line in 26:54 for 69th. Chris Postma and Tim Bierma ran 118th and 124th and were separated by just three seconds at 27:30 and 27:33. Derek Opp completed Dordt's scoring with a time of 27:59 for 152nd. Jeremy Van Woerden and Steve Kelly paced out times of 27:59 and 28:26 for 153rd and and 173rd to complete Dordt's scoring.
Augustana (South Dakota) won the Division II title with a team total of 53 points. Pittsburg State's Adam Volkert won the meet in a time of 25:11 on the 8,000 meter course.
Dordt's next action will be the at the Pre-Nationals Meet hosted at Lawrence, Kansas on the same course the national championship meet will be run on in November.
