The Dordt College Defender women's golf team is seventh after day one of the Palace City Classic hosted by Dakota Wesleyan in Mitchell, South Dakota.

The Defenders totaled a 362 and is two shots behind Briar Cliff and seven shots behind Dakota Wesleyan's JV. The host, Dakota Wesleyan leads the two-day event with a 327 and Morningside is in second with a 329.

Micayla Weaver shot an 82, tops for the Defenders, and is tied for sixth overall. Renae Visser and Kim Brumfield shot an 87 and 93 respectively and Justean De Groot carded a 100.

Dakota Wesleyan's shot a 70 on the par-72, 5890 yard course.

The teams will tee off on Saturday morning for the second 18 holes.
