Dordt College Men's Golf at GPAC Championships

The Dordt College Defender men's golf team followed up their second place performance from Monday with another strong performance on day two of the GPAC Championships to hold on to a tie for second with Nebraska Wesleyan at this year's event held at Green Valley Golf Course in Sioux City, Iowa.

The Defenders had a nine stroke improvement under near-perfect conditions to advance to the NAIA Region III tournament next week in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Dordt was led by Jordan Janz and Jason Kroese who carded a 151 and a 152 respectively for eighth place and ninth place. Collin Broekhuis had a 156 while Jared Rempel recovered from an 84 on Monday to record a 75 on day two for a two-day total of 159. Matt Zwart shot a 161 over the 36 hole event. The top four scores were counted each day with the fifth score knocked out. Top-ten finishers at the conference meet are automatic all-GPAC selections.

Dordt advances to the regional meet for the third year in a row and will be joined at the event by the GPAC champion Dakota Wesleyan. The Tigers shot a 602. Hastings, Midland Lutheran and Sioux Falls are the other GPAC qualifiers with Nebraska Wesleyan competing in the post-season in NCAA Division III. Northwestern's Luke Vermeer was the individual medalist with a 144.
