Prior to his time at Dordt, Roth practiced law briefly after law school, primarily in the area of taxation and employee benefits. He has written training for the IRS regarding qualified plan correction procedures as well as assisted in the development of tools for accountants looking to more easily research state and local tax issues. “I'm interested in the law and society, with a special attention to how we frame our understanding of our environment through metaphor,” says Roth. “I’m also interested in how philosophy and ethics are reflected in good policy.” Actively engaged in scholarship, Roth’s first book, [*Unity in Diversity*](https://www.amazon.com/Unity-Diversity-Critically-Recovering-Division-ebook/dp/B0HCPKH9CT/ref=sr_1_4), was published with Cascade. He also regularly contributes to the [In All Things](https://www.dordt.edu/in-all-things) blog, with over 100 articles from the archives available at [donaldroth.org](https://donaldroth.org/). Outside of teaching, Roth also serves as co-director of the Kuyper Honors program, faculty mentor, Pre-Law club advisor, and a member of the Graduate Studies committee. “I believe that living to the glory of God means being attentive to the ways that we see God and image Him to others in our daily lives,” explains Roth. “I am passionate about the ways that we can do this better through our lives in institutions and in society generally.” Off campus, Roth serves on the Iowa State Advisory Committee for the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights and is the chair of the URCNA Corporate Board. In his free time, Roth enjoys spending time with his wife and three children.
