He completed his family medicine and chief residency at AnMed Health in Anderson, SC, and is a fellow of the Paul Ramsey Institute and the American Academy of Family Physicians. He is the author of *The Healer's Vocation: A Small Group for Christians in Health Care* and co-director of *The* *Good Surgeon* at Duke. Brewer has been published widely, including *JAMA*, *Mere Orthodoxy*, *The New Atlantis*, *Christianity Today*, and *Plough*, including artwork on the cover of *Academic Medicine* and in the *AMA Journal of Ethics*.
