The community is invited to the organ recital of Dordt University senior Isabel Alsum. The free recital will be held on Saturday, April 6, at 7:30 p.m. in the B.J. Haan Auditorium. A public reception will follow.
Alsum’s program will feature numerous musical styles and composers, including J.S. Bach, Jehan Alain, and Olivier Messiaen. Dordt University senior Miranda Munson will be featured as a soprano soloist. The program will follow a musical journey of darkness and grief to light and joy, concluding with a transcription of Gustav Holst’s “Jupiter: the Bringer of Jollity” from The Planets: Suite for Organ.
Alsum, of Lakeville, Minnesota, is majoring in Organ Performance & Pedagogy. She has studied organ with Dr. Carrie Groenewold since 2020.
Alsum’s previous performance credits include her solo junior recital given in November of 2022; annual performances in Dordt’s Honors Recital and in the SDAGO’s Bach’s Birthday Bash concerts between 2020-2023; and numerous masterclasses with world-renowned organists. She has also accompanied choral ensembles and solo instrumentalists over the past four years at Dordt.
