The community is invited to a reception for Sonya Hansum's senior art exhibit on Monday, March 30 at 7 p.m.
A senior art exhibit titled “His Workmanship” by Sonya Hansum, a Dordt University art education major from Platte, South Dakota, is currently on display in the De Yager Activity Center on campus.
Centered around the theme of on-going sanctification in the lives of Christians, Hansum uses the images of trees and the way in which they grow to reflect the everyday, ordinary work of sanctification. “Along with that, the colors represented are also meant to explore the tension that the process of sanctification is not free from pain and suffering, and something that we cannot fully see and understand how it works together,” says Hansum. “However, the light shining through is a reminder that God is working all things for His glory. How good it is to know that the one who sees the whole picture is the one shaping for His glory.”
“I hope that my work causes people to think and wonder about God’s sovereignty over all areas in their life even when it does not make sense to them,” adds Hansum.
The community is invited to a free artist reception on Monday, March 30 at 7 p.m. to learn more about Hansum and her work.
