Under the direction of [Laurel Koerner](https://www.dordt.edu/people/laurel-koerner), musical direction by [Dr. Ryan Smit](https://www.dordt.edu/people/ryan-smit), and choreography by Robin Suing, the talented cast and crew of Dordt students will present the well-known musical at the Te Paske Theatre in Sioux Center. "Part of the satisfaction in staging this show includes fulfilling the desire for something beloved and familiar while applying our own particular vision as collaborative artists,” says Laurel Koerner, professor of acting and directing at Dordt. “It's been a pleasure to be surrounded by a team of skilled contributors to that vision.” Dr. Ryan Smit, director of choral activities at Dordt, adds, “*Fiddler* has a powerful story, memorable and well-written music, and a script that has both heart and humor. Bringing the music to life for a new generation of actors and audience is a privilege.” Koerner says the department has worked tirelessly to accurately portray the story. “We must also do our due diligence regarding the history behind the material; we take seriously the role we have as witnesses to people's lived experiences and tellers of their stories,” says Koerner. “The entire cast committed to working on music over the summer and returning to campus one week early for intensive rehearsals,” adds Koerner. “There are also highly invested student designers, managers, and crew members whose work is well underway with the guidance of department faculty and staff.” Smit anticipates an exceptional performance.
