On September 24-26, nominated high school choral singers from around the country will join Dordt University's music department on campus for the 2026 Dordt Honor Choir Weekend.
The Honor Choir weekend will bring together 60-70 motivated 10th-12th grade student singers to Dordt for a weekend of rehearsals, musical training, and performance. Students in their programs were nominated by choir directors, either top students or those who are passionate about singing and motivated for excellence.
“Honor Choir Weekend is an excellent opportunity for motivated student singers to receive encouragement in their passion for singing and get a jumpstart on their choral training for the school year,” says Dr. Ryan Smit, Director of Choral Activities at Dordt University. “Students will learn, rehearse, and perform significant choral music, receive training for becoming strong leaders in their own choirs, and be challenged to approach music-making from a Christian perspective and for the glory of God.”
The ensemble will spend Thursday evening, Friday, and Saturday morning in rehearsals and leadership activities which will culminate in a final concert at 1 p.m. on Saturday, September 26 in the BJ Haan Auditorium. The concert is free to attend and open to the public.
