Victoria Ensink, a senior majoring in K-12 instrumental music education at Dordt University, will give an organ recital on Saturday, October 25 at 7 p.m. in the B.J. Haan Auditorium.
With an emphasis on sacred themes, Ensink’s recital will reflect the powerful connection between faith and music. “I’m playing a lot of music with sacred themes, which is part of why I love the organ—so much of the repertoire is sacred,” she says.
Through carefully selected pieces, the recital will offer a spiritual journey that mirrors Ensink’s passion for sacred music and her desire to communicate that through the organ. “The program somewhat tells a story, transitioning from ceaseless, restless prayer, to an awareness of God’s love and a trust in His presence, ending in glorious joy and celebration,” says Ensink.
In addition to her studies, Ensink has served as an accompanist for Canons of Dordt and other student recitals, as well as the church organist at Georgetown PRC in her hometown of Hudsonville, Michigan. She is also the recipient of the Carol Lee Den Ouden Zylstra Memorial Church Music Scholarship.
The community is invited to a public reception following the recital.
