Haan Auditorium in Sioux Center on Friday, March 14 at 7 p.m. This free concert is part of a spring tour with performances scheduled throughout Michigan and Ontario, Canada. Featured composers include Palestrina, Sweelinck, Randall Thompson, Brahms, Ola Gjeilo, Dan Forrest, Jaako Mäntyjärvi, Shawn Kirchner, and F. Melius Christiansen. “Thematically, the program seeks to glorify God by presenting anthems of praise; commemorating the birth, life, and sacrifice of Christ; looking forward to the eternal life that God has promised to us; reveling in God’s remarkable creation through an exploration of the four seasons; and celebrating the joy of music-making with a collection of compelling folk song arrangements,” says Smit. Currently, 21% of Dordt’s student body participates in music, including over 200 singers in five choral ensembles, and numerous students in two orchestras and four bands.
