Students whose art is on display will participate, in addition to their art teachers. Students whose art is on display will participate, in addition to their art teachers. The reception is open to the public. The showcase features graphite, charcoal, chalk, watercolor, oil, acrylic, photography, mixed media, and ceramic artwork from area high school students. The exhibit is on display in the Campus Center Art Gallery on Dordt’s campus from March 4 – April 4. Associate Professor of Art & Design and Art Gallery Director David Platter says that it is refreshing to see the whole gamut of the human experience on display in the works of the young artists. “From pieces that suggest a more subtle and contemplative approach all the way to embracing striking humor in our studio practices, it’s evident that art is dynamic enough to encompass the whole of human experience,” he says. “It’s been an honor to host this work and celebrate how incredible these young artists are and the excellent work our local art teachers are achieving in their classes.” This year’s jurors included: - Ryan Eckert, assistant professor of art and design at Dordt - Chad Postma, landscape photographer and Dordt alumnus - Yovica Alethia, senior art major and assistant curator at Dordt **About Dordt University** As an institution of higher education committed to the Reformed Christian perspective, Dordt University equips students, faculty, alumni, and the broader community to work toward Christ-centered renewal in all aspects of contemporary life.
