# Dordt Music Department to host all-Bach organ recital

Dordt University’s Dr. Carrie Groenewold to present an all-Bach organ recital with Jared Ostermann on Saturday, October 21.

 ![]()Dordt University’s Dr. Carrie Groenewold will present an all-Bach organ recital with Jared Ostermann on Saturday, October 21, 2023 at 7:30 p.m. in the B.J. Haan Auditorium.

The program will include the dramatic “Pièce d'Orgue, BWV 572”; many chorale-based works, including the profound settings of “Wer nur den lieben Gott läßt walten” and “O Lamm Gottes, unschuldig”; and the stirring “Praeludium et Fuga in E, BWV 566”.

Both Groenewold and Ostermann are graduates of the University of Notre Dame (M.S.M.) and both hold a D.M.A. from the University of Kansas. They will be performing their all-Bach programs at the upcoming “Bach at Bales” Conference at the University of Kansas.

Groenewold serves at Dordt as the Joan Ringerwole chair of [church music](https://www.dordt.edu/academics/programs/music-ba/church-music) and organ and university organist, a position she has held since 2019. She gives private organ instruction to a full studio, teaches classroom courses, directs the Bella Voce women’s chorus, and oversees the keyboard department.

Ostermann serves as the director of music at the Cathedral of St. Joseph in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. As music director, he oversees all liturgical music and conducts three adult choirs, as well as serving as artistic director of the Cathedral Sacred Arts series. In addition to his work at the cathedral, he teaches organ at the University of South Dakota.
