CoSIDA Honors For Defender Trio

(Thursday, May 26; Sioux Center, Iowa) The 2021-22 Academic All-District Men’s Track & Field/Cross Country Team, selected by CoSIDA, have been announced and the Dordt Defenders have three athletes listed on the District 3 team. Trey Engen (Junior; Algona, Iowa), Eric Steiger (Senior; Lynden, Washington) and Davis Tebben (Senior; Lansing, Illinois) have all been voted to the team and will now be on the CoSIDA Academic All-American ballot.
Engen is studying criminal justice and has a 3.93 grade point average and finished 13th at the 2021 GPAC Cross Country Championship and has earned all-GPAC honors eight times in track and field during his career and is a three-time NAIA All-American in track and field. Engen has also been a part of NAIA National Champion and Runner-up relay teams.
Steiger is an engineering major with a 3.90 grade point average. During his career has finished first, second, third and eighth at the four GPAC Cross Country Championships he has competed in, and he earned NAIA All-American honors with a 34th place finish at the 2021 National Cross Country Championship. Steiger is a nine-time all-conference performer in track and field and a five-time GPAC track and field champion.
Tebben is an engineering major with a 3.87 grade point average. Tebben was the 2021 GPAC Cross Country Champion and finished as the runner-up in 2020 and was seventh in 2018. He’s a nine-time top-eight finisher in track and field and a two-time GPAC track and field champion.
CoSIDA Academic All-District nominees must be at least a sophomore and maintain a 3.3 grade point average. CoSIDA is the national organization for college sports information professionals.
