Baseball Recruiting Class Announced

The Dordt University baseball program has announced its recruiting class for the 2022-23 school year. 23 athletes from 17 states make up the list made public by Coach Nathan Bacon.
Joseph Anastasio is a senior at William Amos Hough High School (North Carolina) and also played for the Carolinas Baseball Club. He helped William Amos Hough to a 14-0 conference record and will study engineering.
Caleb Beard is a senior at Austin High School (Alabama) and he is an outfielder. In 49 high school games he has a .307 batting average with 48 hits, 42 runs batted in, 36 runs scored, five homeruns and 12 doubles. He has twice earned all-county honors along with earning all-area and PBR all-American honors. He plans to study business at Dordt.
Carson Belcher is a senior at Ralston Valley High School (Colorado) and is a catcher. He has a career .429 batting average and a .667 slugging percentage. He plans to enter the pre-physical therapy program.
Cooper Burkel is a senior at Lincoln Way West (Nebraska) and has played baseball for the Canjelosi Sparks. He plans to study mathematics.
Tuck Crider is a senior at Fayetteville High School (Arkansas) and plays outfield. He plans to study nursing.
Jake Fynaardt is a senior at Des Moines Christian (Iowa) and has played first base and pitcher for the Lions. Fynaardt has a career .318 batting average with a 3.32 earned run average. He’s claimed second-team all-conference and all-district honors and will study exercise science or business.
Michel Greer is a senior at Sheridan High School (Wyoming). He has played third base and has a career .343 batting average with 29 stolen bases. He was a first-team all-state pick as a junior and a second-team selection as a sophomore and als played for the Sheridan Troopers travel team. A multi-sport athlete, he also earned first-team all-state in football while playing kcker and linebacker. Greer plans to study biology.
Jordan Griswold attends Southwest Covenant High School (Oklahoma) and is a pitcher, outfielder and first baseman. He was a four-year starter for Southwest Covenant Christian and served as team captain. He posted a .412 batting average and plans to study engineering.
Will Gutzmer is a senior at Missouri Valley High School (Iowa) and batted .307 last season with 23 hits, 15 runs scored, 14 runs batted in and 11 stolen bases. He was an honorable mention all-conference selection in 2021 and also earned all-conference honors in basketball and cross country. Gutzmer plans to study engineering at Dordt.
Logan Harris is a student at Oran Park Anglican College and is an outfielder and pitcher. Harris played for a U18 Orioles NSW State Championship team and batted .429 with a homerun and 10 runs batted in while scoring 14 runs. He plans to study exercise science.
Ethan Hoogesteger attends Nekoosa High School (Wisconsin) where he had a .542 batting average and pitched 30 and a third innings with 61 strikeouts. He was a first-team all-conference pick at shortstop and was also picked all-league. He will study agriculture.
Chance Laswell is a student at Calvary Chapel Christian School (Nevada) and is a righthanded pitcher and also plays centerfield. Laswell has a .320 batting average with a 1.20 earned run average on the mound. He’s a three-time academic all-state pick and has served as varsity team captain while also earning varsity mvp honors.
Matthew McMillian attends Gardner Edgerton High School (Kansas) and plays infield and catcher. He’s been a part of Precision Baseball KC and had a .421 batting average in fall 2021 with two homeruns and 25 runs batted in. McMillian was a part of a Sunflower League champion team and a 6A State Tournament runner-up. He plans to study education at Dordt.
Ty Neugebauer attends Ethan High School (South Dakota) and is a pitcher. He earned all-region honors in spring 2021 with 30 2/3 innings pitched and a 1.37 earned run average with 34 strikeouts. Neugebauer plans to study agriculture.
Michael O’Neill attends Andover High School (Minnesota) and is a righthanded pitcher and he has played left and right field. He was a part of a section championship in 2021 and plans to study engineering.
Drew Oreskes attends Oak Ridge High School (California) and is a corner infielder. He plans to enter the pre-physical therapy program.
Garrett Penny is a senior at Manhattan High School (Montana) and is listed as an outfielder. He batted .333 for Big Sky baseball in 2021 and was a part of a American Legion State Champion teams in 2021-22 and regional runner-up teams those same seasons. He plans to study engineering.
Matthew Ramstead attends Valor Christian High School (Colorado) and has played first base and pitcher during his career. He had a .378 batting average with a 0.78 earned run average as a junior and helped Valor to a runner-up finish at the state tournament in 2021. Matthew will study business administration at Dordt.
Andrew Ravelo is a student at Valley Vista High School (Arizona) and is a shortstop and pitcher. He was an all-region and all-district first team selection and has also played for the SW Sticks Finn club team. Ravelo will study physiology.
Bennett Spronk is a shortstop, centerfielder and pitcher at Pella Christian High School (Iowa) where he batted .309 in 2021 with nine doubles, five homeruns and a tam high 28 runs batted in. He struck out 46 batters in 50 innings pitched and earned second-team all-conference honors. Spronk will study exercise science.
Owen Telecky is a left-handed pitcher and struck 55 batters in 26 and a third innings and limited opponents to a .225 batting average. He is a senior at Lind-Ritzville High School (Washington) where he also had a .333 batting average. He will study agriculture.
Michael Thompson is a leftfielder and corner infielder and plays for Vista Ridge High School (Colorado). He’s been a part of a PPAC conference championship and earned three triple crown awards. Thompson is planning to study nursing at Dordt.
Morgan Wilkins is a catcher and corner infielders at Summit Christian Academy (Missouri). He’s a first-team all-conference and all-district choice and earned second-team all-state honors in 2020. Wilkins was part of conference and district championships and plans to study exercise science.
Kyle Wellen is a student at Brush High School (Colorado) and has played centerfield, second base and first base. He’s posted a .355 batting average and was an all-conference selection and has been on two-playoff qualifying teams. A multi-sport athlete, Wellen was a two-time all-conference and all-state second-team pick in football. Wellen plans to study engineering.
