Karel To Join Defenders Soccer Program

Nolan Karel, a senior at Grandville Calvin Christian High School (Mich.), has announced his intention to attend Dordt University and join the Defender men’s soccer program.

“We were drawn to Nolan's character and a desire to grow in his faith and search for community,” said Dordt Head Coach Ryan Gresse. “He will provide competition at the center midfield position and we are excited to have Nolan on campus in the fall.”

Karel started four years in the midfield for Calvin Christian and has played 10 seasons for the Michigan Fire Juniors Club program. Karel helped lead his team to the state finals and was part of teams that won both the regional and district championships. He earned second team all-state honors two years and was named all-district all four years.

“I chose Dordt because of the welcoming community and high-quality education,” said Karel. “I am very impressed with Dordt’s Chris-centered mission and the quality of its athletic programs.”

Karel is the son of Timothy and Carla from Grandville, Mich.  He plans to study Business / Finance at Dordt.
