Espenson Added To Defender Hockey

(Friday, April 15, 2022; Sioux Center, Iowa) Zach Espenson, a senior at Windom High School (Minnesota), has announced his intention to attend Dordt and join the Defender hockey program.

"Zach is going to be an instrumental part of the Defender Hockey program for the next four years. He has tremendous skill that will allow him to be a calming presence for us on the ice. Zach came on this campus and was drawn to the Defender Way and is eager to get to work for us. We could not be more excited for him,” said Dordt hockey coach Tyler Morgan.

Espenson is a 6-0 defenseman who scored 12 goals with 26 assists last season and totaled 20 goals and 60 assists during his career.  He was an all-conference selection as junior and senior and twice named defensive player of the year and was the 2022 mvp.  Espenson helped his team to a section quarterfinal for the first time in school history.

"The school and community seem very supportive of the student and the hockey games seem like a great atmosphere to play in,” said Espenson.

Zach is the son of Justin and Brittany Espenson of Windom, Minnesota.  He plans to study business at Dordt.

Dordt University in Sioux Center, Iowa, is a comprehensive Christian college rooted in the Reformed tradition.
