Fransman To Join Defender Basketball

(Thursday, April 7, 2022; Sioux Center, Iowa) EJ Fransman, a senior at Pella Christian High School, has announced his intention to attend Dordt and join the Defender basketball program.

“EJ is a great Dordt fit.  He is a second generation player, as his father played at Dordt.  His Pella Christian team got to the Final Four this past year, so he knows what it looks like to be successful on the floor.  We look forward to his development as a player and a person in our program,” said Dordt basketball coach Brian Van Haaften.

Fransman is a 6-7 post player who helped the Eagles to a state tournament semifinal berth.

“I chose Dordt because of how friendly the people were and how it felt like home when I was there,” said Fransman.

EJ is the son of Mike and Tara Fransman of Pella, Iowa. He plans to study business at Dordt.

Dordt University in Sioux Center, Iowa, is a comprehensive Christian college rooted in the Reformed tradition. The Defender athletic program is a part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC), American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) and the Mid-American Collegiate Hockey Association (MACHA).

U.S. News & World Report, Money Magazine, Forbes.com, Washington Monthly, and Princeton Review all list Dordt on their best colleges lists. Dordt is home to approximately 1,500 students.
