Women's Track and Field - Sioux City Relays Preview

The Event...The Dordt University women's track and field team will compete in the Sioux City Relays, a two-day meet held at Olson Stadium, this weekend.

Events get underway at noon on Friday, April 8, and will continue until the conclusion of the 10K around 9:30pm. Saturday's (Day Two) events will commence at 9am and will conclude at 5pm.

Teams Competing...Athletes from at least 11 different institutions are scheduled to compete, including six from the Great Plains Athletic Conference.

Season Update...This is the second of six regular season competitions for the Defenders leading up to the GPAC Championships on May 6-7 in Crete, Neb.

The Defenders totaled 19 top five finishes at last week's home meet, the Dordt Invitational.

Anna Herman, Emilee Heynen, Mika Kooistra and Emma Bakker combined to win the 4x400 with the second fastest time overall in the GPAC, 12th best in the NAIA

Bakker accounted for three additional top five finishes (4x100, 100m and 200m)

Alexandra Beckmann finished among the top five in three events (4x100, 100m and 200m)

Heynen (400m), Saydie Clark (Pole Vault), Lexie Kampman and the 4x100 all turned in second place finishes
