Begalke To Join Defender Soccer Program

(Thursday, April 7, 2022; Sioux Center, Iowa) Nikolas Begalke, a senior at Carl-Friedrich-Gaub Gymnasium (Germany), has announced his intention to attend Dordt University and join the Defender men’s soccer program.
“We have enjoyed getting to know Nikolas throughout the recruiting process,” commented Dordt Head Coach Ryan Gresse. “He will provide competition at outside midfielder from day one. Nikolas is a great addition for our program and makes our 2022 recruit class even stronger.”
Begalke has played several seasons for the SC Westfalia Herne Club where he helped lead his team to a first place finish last year. Begalke totaled 24 points with six goals and 12 assists.
“There was not one single reason that led me to the decision of choosing Dordt,” said Begalke. “The coaches, the facilities, the atmosphere….Dordt is an awesome university and I am very excited for next season.”
Begalke is the son of Wolfgang and Monika from Gelsenkirchen, Germany. He plans to study Economics at Dordt.
Dordt University in Sioux Center, Iowa, is a comprehensive Christian college rooted in the Reformed tradition. The Defender athletic program is a part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC), American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) and the Mid-American Collegiate Hockey Association (MACHA).
U.S. News & World Report, Money Magazine, Forbes.com, Washington Monthly, and Princeton Review all list Dordt on their best colleges lists. Dordt is home to approximately 1,500 students.
