Men's Volleyball Faces Morningside Wednesday

The Dordt Defenders will travel to Sioux City, Iowa to face the Morningside Mustangs on Wednesday, March 2 at 7:00. The match is a Great Plains Athletic Conference contest as the teams work towards the conclusion of the season.
The Morningside Mustangs are 3-12 this season and 1-4 in conference play. The Mustangs have a win over Kansas Wesleyan on February 17 for the lone win of the league play. Morningside’s other wins are over Culver-Stockton and Clarke.
Morningside has an 11.1 kills per set average with 56 service aces this year and the Mustangs get 1.2 points per set on blocks. Opponents record 11.7 kills per set and have 76 aces against Morningside and teams are averaging 2.3 blocks per set.
Isaiah Baynes averages 4.2 kills per set and Jacob Baynes gets 2.7 per outing with a .234 kill efficiency. Baynes has 13 service aces this season and is the co-leader with Jacob DePaauw. Erik Krenz and Dylan Hamil average 1.6 and 1.3 kills per outing. De Paauw is putting up 9.6 assists per set.
Dordt is 6-4 this season with a 5-1 conference mark. Dordt’s lone loss in conference play is to Jamestown.
Caleb Kulesza is averaging a team high 3.8 kills per set with a .377 kill efficiency while getting to 1.9 digs and he has a team high 16 service aces. Brady Frost and Luke Nelson are averaging 2.3 and 2.2 kills and Nelson has a .354 kill efficiency. Andres Guzman is averaging 2.0 kills and has 11 service aces with 1.7 digs per set. Lukas Van Groningen and Boris Le have split the setting responsibilities with 8.1 and 7.5 assists per set respectively.
Morningside lost to St. Ambrose 25-23, 25-23, 14-25, 23-25, 15-13 on February 25 in its most recent competition. Isaiah Baynes had 25 kills in the loss and Jacob Baynes accounted for 20. Jacob DePauw put up 55 assists and Lucas Begliomini had four service aces in the loss and Owen Anderson had 15 digs.
Dordt had no problem with Central Christian on February 25 by turning in a 25-15, 25-11, 25-9 win. Caleb Kulesza had six kills and Luke Nelson five while Lukas Van Groningen put up 22 assists and Dordt had 13 service aces in the win.
Dordt won a reverse sweep over Morningside 16-25, 20-25, 25-23, 25-10, 15-13 on February 10. Caleb Kulesza put down 22 kills in the win and Brady Frost and Andres Guzman had 14 and 11 each. Boris Le put up 38 assists and Lukas Van Groningen 16 with Robert Piekarz getting 14 digs. Isaiah Baynes had 23 kills for the Mustangs with Erik Krenz putting down 14 and Jacob De Pauw had 50 assists.
