Knobloch Voted To GPAC Honor

(Tuesday, March 1; Sioux Center, Iowa) The 2021-22 Great Plains Athletic Conference Cheer and Dance postseason awards have been announced and Dordt’s Mel Knobloch has been named the Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Cheer Co-Coach-of-the-Year along with Midland’s Kayla Rojas.

Knobloch guided the Defenders to a seventh-place finish at the GPAC Championship held on Saturday, February 26 in Crete, Nebraska.

“I am thrilled Coach Knobloch has been named the coach-of-the-year in the GAPC,” said Dordt director of athletics Ross Douma.  “The energy and passion she puts into coaching, guiding and mentoring the athletes in her program is tremendous and leads to a great student-athlete experience.  To be recognized by her peers in the first year of our cheer program’s competitive existence speaks volumes to the respect other conference coaches have for her.”

Knobloch coaches both the cheer and dance programs at Dordt University. Both teams concluded the 2021-22 season last week at the GPAC Championship.
